Participants:A total of more than 190 participants attended the Meeting. Vice Minister Dr. Ho-Shong Hou and Mr. Michael Reilly, Director of British Trade & Cultural Office were invited to make welcome remarks. Mr. Ian McCartney MP, Minister of State for Trade, Investment and Foreign Affairs also provided his greetings via video recording and played out in the meeting. Sir Thomas Harris, Vice Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Stephen Walker, Chairman/Managing Director, Marks and Spencer(Taiwan)Corp., and Mr. Tai San Chiu, Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung City Government presented their keynote speeches during the plenary session.

Information and Communications Technology Group:
1. Mobile convergence continues ever faster….broadcast with mobile with computing
2. User centric and fit for purpose is fundamental
3. The needs for mobile content and media services(with innovation & incentives)is growing
4. Mobile payment is a huge opportunity as long as the payment model is right!
5. Need for funding to commercialize innovations(liaise with F&PS group)
6. To survive is to change to succeed…
And the agreed action items are as follows:
1. Promote TBBC Website: Registration, Forum/Blog, Webcast and Podcast exchange — stimulate inter-annual contact (quarterly from June’07)—www.tbbc.org.tw
2. Send your comments via e-mail to this website. (immediate)
3. Develop contents/applications for e-, m- and u-Taiwan, also aim at global markets. i.e. Projects for community and home healthcare. (establish requirements by Sept’07)
4. Liaise with Financial Sub-Group to access venture funding (immediate)
5. Potential of joint activity during 3GSM Asia in Macau (Nov 2007) with planned UK mission.
6. Strategic partnership with UK/TW companies using UKTI knowledge and channels. (ongoing)
7. Bring unique content to English and Chinese speaking countries via joint venture. (ongoing)
8. Consider an R&D project for mobile/digital life. (immediate)
Infrastructure & Logistics Group::
․Maximize and utilize experiences from UK to help set up clear and perfect BOT/PPP regulations for sewer system. ․2 months before conference, both parties should have the presentation material ready for the other party to review and study to target delegates.
․To identify what the opportunities are and the areas for cooperation before meeting
․ Energy saving projects (ESCO) Taiwan and UK should consider cooperating to develop ESCO business in Taiwan and China.
․Cooperate with British companies for the wind power projects, MRT projects and Taiwan high speed rail station area development projects.
․Include the issue of 2012 Olympics Games in London in the agenda for next meeting
․Liaise with ICT & F&PS group for technologies & funding
․Get advice and expertise from UK companies on how to make the best use of the arena and stadium built for 2009 World Game in Kaohsiung
․ All of us eagerly wish to meet each other again in London next year.
